Is there any specific legislation or law against a boss witholding wages from an employee?

Not to go into details, but i was forced to quit my job without working my notice period as circumstances became intolerable, but now my ex-boss is refusing to pay me wages that i have worked for.

I am asking for specific legislation or laws that state he cant do this, and if possible i need the 'breach of contract' law also. Please dont write yes or no, i need specific details please.

Thank you very much|||He cannot hold wages for hours you already worked. Contact the department of labor in your state and they will go after the company. You will get your money and the company will be fined.|||It's VERY illegal to withhold wages.|||i agree with the one who told you to go to your department of labour. it is illegal for a company to withhold pay for hours already worked. they will be able to let you know what you have to do in order to get your wages, and the company will be disciplined, as well.
